YOUNGSTERS at Spalding Cycling Club have received a timely boost from Derek Chamberlain at Gibbons Cycles and Sports.
The Winsover Road firm have provided two single speed track racing bikes to the club for junior riders to use throughout the summer programme of grass track races.
A host of junior and senior Spalding members compete in grass track events across the summer and the club holds weekly training sessions to hone the rider’s skills for this fast and furious style of racing.
Chamberlain said: “There are many enthusiastic young riders in Spalding Cycling Club at the moment with an interest in many different disciplines of cycling racing.
“It is not always practical for young riders to have lots of different bikes and so for the club to have these bikes for any young member to train and race on will allow more young riders to take part and develop their skills.”
Spalding coach Chris Peel said: “The addition of these two bikes kindly donated by Gibbons Cycles and Sports is great news for the club.
“It will allow all junior members with an interest in track cycling to have more track time to train and develop their skills.”
