Aaron Clarke’s hopes of a good performance in the second round of the British Superstock 600 championship literally went crashing just a lap into the race.
After improving his lap times by more than five seconds in practice during the weekend he was anticipating a good result at Oulton Park on Monday, but his race was over on the first lap when the front tucked under at Hizzy’s chicane causing him to crash.
Although uninjured, the Kirton rider was forced to watch the rest of the race from the safety of the marshal post.
He said: “It was just a racing incident. I was going well but then lost the front, collected another rider on the way to the gravel trap and we both went down.
“Despite the crash I have improved my lap time by a massive five seconds so it’s not all doom and gloom.”
