SPALDING ace Annalisa Bellamy has won the Bowls England 25 and Under Singles Championship for the second time in three years.

Representing Lincolnshire, Bellamy clinched the crown by beating Northamptonshire’s Rebecca Wigfield in a thrilling final at Royal Leamington Spa.

In a tight tussle, which had seen the scores level several times during the game, 23-year-old Bellamy scored four shots on the last three ends to triumph 21-19.

Earlier the 2009 winner had reached the final following a 21-7 win against her England junior international team-mate Kylie Hampton (Surrey) in the first semi-final.

She also defeated Serena Madgwick (Saffron LBC) 21-16 in the last eight.

Wigfield had been hoping to make it third time lucky in a national final – having lost in the final of the National Triples Championship in 2010 and the final of the National Fours Championship this year.

She won through to the final after beating the local favourite, Warwickshire’s Helen Slimm, in the second semi-final.
