BOWLS: Gosberton win halts Bourne Town charge

EBA (Section Four) Club Championship

GOSBERTON put the skids on Bourne Town’s title charge in EBA Group B with the tightest of wins last week.

The third-placed side secured a 6-4 win over the leaders, despite only winning on one of the three rinks.

But what a victory it was, with M Lunn, D Sandall, M Booth and G Wilson delivering a fine 22-10 return – which was good enough to secure the aggregate spoils by one shot (47-46).

That defeat for Bourne allowed Deepings to close to within two points of the top after they prevailed 8-2 at Castle A. The quartet of D Hefferman, G Cree, B Wilkinson and P Blessett stole the show with a 28-11 rink success.

Elsewhere, Carter’s Park A enjoyed their best result of the season in Triples A, routing Consti B 10-0.
