SPALDING trio Liam Stanley, Charlotte Walkden and Pat Blackman were this year’s winners of the Gareth Hicks Memorial Trophy.
This annual event, held at Spalding IBC, is in memory of Gareth – who passed away at the age of 16 after suffering from leukaemia.
The format was two wood triples with, with two young players joining forces with a senior member of the club.
Each team played three games of 50 minutes, swapping senior players every time, with all six rinks in use.
Stanley and Walkden ran out eventual winners, with the former landing the title for a third time. Runners-up were Jake Meakins from Grantham and William Van Der Weyden.
Of the seniors, Blackman finished ahead of Calvin Leuty.
Trophies were donated and presented to all juniors that took part by Gareth’s parents Julie and Graham Hicks, while a raffle helped the day raise £230 for charity PACT.
