RAMPANT Royal Mail Cart lifted the County EBF Onyx Trophy as they were crowned top dogs in Lincolnshire.

Held at Burton House Bowls Club, Mail Cart were one of four teams battling it out for honours.

Along with Skegness Foreshore, the Spalding and District League side were representing South Lincolnshire.

It was the two southern sides that squared off at the semi-final stage, with Mail Cart winning by eight shots.

The other last four clash saw Perry Sports edge past Boultham Park.

These games were played over 25 ends with four rinks of three players of mixed gender playing three bowls each.

After a short break the final got under way – and Perry Sports held the advantage following a rapid start.

But Mail Cart were given a tremendous boost when John Allen’s rink of Julie Allen and Stuart Callerby picked up a six. After that it was all Mail Cart, who picked up shots with some ease and came away comfortable winners by some 31 shots.

EBF Spalding and District League: Royal Mail Cart A broke clear at the top of Division One in a potentially decisive week.

Their 5-1 success over high-flying Donington opened up a 6.5 point cushion, with M Spencer, B Wilson and P Simpson impressive 32-10 winners.

Second-placed Spalding Town A were upset 5-1 at Carter’s Park, who picked up three rink wins.

Top scorers for the Holbeach side were R Flowers, K Howard and G Palmer (28-8).

It was a different story in Division Two, as runaway leaders Whaplode Drove A were pegged back by Billingborough.

Drove had won nine games on the spin, but now see their lead cut to 10.5 points.

The rink of J Broughton, D Robinson and E Atter led the charge for Boro’ with a big 30-10 triumph.

Second-placed Carter’s Park B took full advantage of the slip up, as they walloped Long Sutton A 6-0.

They amassed 97 shots, with 31 of them coming from K Crane, G Chamberlain and L Foreman.

Division Three leaders Swineshead beat Royal Mail Cart B 4.5-1.5 to stay just half a point clear at the top.
