Donington delivered their most eye-catching EBA (Section Four) Club Championship Group A win of the season as they shattered Spalding Town A’s flawless record.

Table-toppers Town had won their opening five games, but had no answer to a devastating display from Donington, who prevailed 8-2 (63-39).

Two of the three rinks won handsomely, with a 27-6 return from D Bristow, A Slaughter, T Stanley and O Timm the most impressive.

That allowed second-placed Ayscoughfee to close the gap on the leaders, as they saw off Moulton Harrox 8-2.

However, it was a Harrox quartet that stole the show. That’s because Martin Stokes, Liam Stanley, Kevin Ekins and Richard Hutchinson scored a full house of eight to finish their game in style, grabbing their sides’ only winning rink (28-8) in the process.

At the other end, Bourne Town remain rooted to the foot after a sixth-successive loss. They went down 8-2 at Whaplode Drove, for who Tom Parkins, Jack Reddin, Don Claxton and Bob Grounds bagged a 26-11 rink return.

In Group B, Deepings hit the summit with a maximum 10-0 triumph over Billingborough.

All three sets were comfortable winners, but the fantastic foursome of R Lynch, D Ellis, R Hurst and C Collicot won 24-10 to steal the show.

Also 10-0 winners were Castle A. They had too much for fellow club side Castle B, with David Marriott, Colin Wilson, Peter Banks and Gordon West (23-10) top scoring.

On the Triples scene, Goodfellowship are setting the pace following an 8-2 home victory over Royal Mail Cart.

Top trio J Reader, T Martin and J Moore lit up the contest as they romped to a 33-11 success.

There was something of a shock in Triples B though, with leaders Holbeach USC handed a heavy reverse against rivals Carter’s Park B.

The hosts won two of the three rinks and drew the other, with the pick of the victories being a 16-11 win from K Gray, J Nicholls and K Howard.

Both Castle B and Spalding Town A were 10-0 winners too.
