EBA Section Four Club Championship (Spalding area): DONINGTON stormed back to the top of Group A after securing an edgy 8-2 win over fellow high-flyers Spalding Town A last week.

In the end just one shot swung the clash between the two sides, who both started the day in the top three.

Donington won on two of the three rinks, but a 15-8 success from K Cherry, A Almond, S Lane and M Edling left the aggregate spoils on a knife edge.

Unfortunately for Town, they came up one short to lose 46-45 – and while Donington sit at the summit, they slip down a place to fourth.

Another making a move are Moulton Harrox.

They beat Carter’s Park in a more comfortable 8-2 scoreline, jumping up to second in the process.

They enjoyed two big rinks wins, with M Stanley, R Hutchinson, K Ekins and R Duke (23-8) in particularly top touch.

Elsewhere, Royal Mail Cart A paid the price for a sloppy rink as lowly Consti battled back to win 6-4.

A crushing 31-3 success from Consti quartet B Borst, R Quinton, S Buffrey and P Allard rendered Mail Cart’s two rink wins as mere consolation as they lost out 55-51 on aggregate.

In Group B, Gosberton galloped four points clear at the top with a hard-fought 8-2 triumph over third-placed Deepings.

A pivotal 28-17 return from M Lunn, D Sandall, M Booth and G Wilson was the catalyst for their success.

It was a different story for previous leaders Bourne Town, who were handed an 8-2 reverse by Long Sutton.

Again there was only two shots in the overall aggregate, with a 15-14 win from S Bass, J Surmon, R Hayden and D Buck ultimately proving vital.

At the other end of the table, Spalding Town B registered a much-needed eight points as they secured a second win of the campaign.

They won a tight tussle with Billingborough 8-2, with A Searle, P Grimmett, C Stagles and D Chatham (18-15) and G Fisher, D Springden, A Nichols and R Graham (19-17) their top contributors.

Meanwhile, Goodfellowship raced eight points clear in Triples A with an impressive 8-2 victory over title rivals Consti A.

Terrific trio T Martin, A Everitt and J Moore stole the show for the Fosdyke side as they won their rink 22-12.

Consti B are the nearest challengers in second, having mauled Moulton Harrox A 10-0. They racked up 63 shots in the process.

Bourne are even further ahead in Triple B.

They dispatched Holbeach USC A 8-2 to moved 13 clear, with J Banks, T Ayliff and P Dimbleby 19-9 winners.

Royal Mail Cart are best of the rest and they picked up a 8-2 victory at Castle B to stay second.
