EBA Section Four Club Championship (Spalding area)

BOURNE Town missed the chance to wrap up the EBA Section Four Club Championship (Spalding area) Triples B title as rivals Royal Mail Cart rained on their parade.

The leaders were upset 8-2 on home soil, meaning Mail Cart can still take the crown.

A huge win from P Allen, G Horner and S Callaby was the highlight for the away side, who still have two fixtures to complete this season.

Bourne, who have one game outstanding themselves, are five clear.

Castle A’s bid for glory ended on the final day of their campaign. They knocked off Holbeach USC A 7-3, but are just a point shy of Bourne.

C Ward, B Daff and P Bank were the top scorers (23-13).

With Triples A champions Goodfellowship not in action, all eyes were on the race for second.

Consti A are in the box seat having cruised past basement boys Billingborough 8-2. J Garland, R Quinton and T Wright secured a super 26-17 rink win to get the ball rolling.

Long Sutton also had designs on second, but their 6-4 reverse at Carter’s Park B looks to have ended their bid on the final day.

• AYSCOUGHFEE trio Paul Caress, Ashley Caress and Chris Warboys took Lincolnshire into the last 16 of National EBA Bowls Finals at Worthing.

Competing in the triples, they played a team from Gloucestershire in the last 64 and won 23-14. In the next round they beat a team from Leicestershire 22-15 to reach the last 16.

That was as far as they could manage though with a team from Nottinghamshire edging them out 16-18.
