A WHITEWASH win from Pyramid B increased the chances of a Spalding and District League one-two finish for the Bourne club.
With Pyramid C already confirmed as champions, all eyes are now on the battle for second place.
And with two games left, three teams have a realistic chance of securing the runner-up spot, with Pyramid B doing their hopes the power of good.
They made light work of Consti B to move five points clear, despite Mick Johnson (O170) putting in a typically impressive display.
He made breaks of 50, 42, 35, 26 and 20, but suffered a defeat to Martin O’Connor (R40).
Meanwhile, BSC A’s chances of second took a hit as they went down 4-3 against the champions.
Hugh Pinner (O150) notched scores of 58, 57, 54 and 51 to help secure an extra point, but James Sharpe (R60) and Brian Kendall (R70) sealed the win for Pyramid C.
Crowland A also have an outside chance of being best of the rest, but their hopes faded after a 5-2 loss at Consti A. Derek Tinkler (O20) did make a 47 break in vain.
Away from the top, another strong showing from Rob Childs (O200) helped Crowland B defeat Holbeach A 5-2.
The cue ace made scores of 49 and an unfinished 45 as he beat Tony Blanchard (R60).
