ANOTHER week, another imperious Pyramid B showing in the Spalding and District League.
The Bourne side moved an incredible 21 points clear of the rest by dispatching Crowland B 7-0 on their own baize, making it a tenth straight win.
Martin O’Connor (R40) took the scalp of the league’s most heavily handicaped player, Rob Childs, while Maurice Phillipson (R90) won well and Darrell Read (R50) made a 21 break. However, Childs (O200) did manage breaks of 36, 29 and 20 in defeat.
Second-placed Consti B slipped further behind after a 5-2 loss to BSC. There were plenty of big breaks on show, with BSC’s John Bellerby (R80), Stewart Davies (R30) and Alan Hansard (R70) pocketed scores of 24, 28 and 20 respectively.
Consti’s Mick Johnson (O170) hit back with breaks of 39, 30, 29, 28 and 27, but it was John Keeton (R50) that grabbed their win with a 25 break of his own.
The best break of the week went to Holbeach C’s Alan Yardley, though. The scratch player trousered a 57 in a 5-2 defeat at Gosberton, while team-mate Brian Bowell (R20) chipped in with a 39.
Consti A’s Lindsay Porter (R40) was also on fine form, making an unfinished 24 in a 5-2 win at Holbeach B.
