LONG-TIME Spalding and District League leaders Pyramid B have secured the title.

A 4-3 win over BSC last Monday – their 15th success in 19 matches – finally put the championship beyond the reach of the chasing pack.

Martin O’Connor and Darrell Read won and although Maurice Phillipson was beaten by Stewart Davies, the Bourne side were champions.

Consti B are now favourites to take runners-up spot.

They lost at home to Holbeach C – for whom Hugh Pinner had a 75 break – but earned one more point than second-placed Pyramid A.

They were both locked on 80 points going into last night’s matches, but Consti B have a match in hand.

• Bourne Snooker Centre – who don’t field a team in the league – pipped Crowland B to the shield.

Max Ayliff and Ian Clare were Bourne winners, with Alan Sharman getting the Crowland B’s sole success.

Meanwhile, Rob Childs – who lost to Clare – saw off Mick Johnson fairly comfortably (525-485) to regain the scratch title after a break of two years.

And James Waterfall is a new name on the handicap trophy. He beat Brian Kendall 200-153
