BILLIARDS: Mick close to posting top break

Have your say

Mick Johnson went tantalisingly close to making the biggest Spalding and District Billiards League break of the season last week.

The Consti B O160 handicapper made a super 96 in a 7-0 whitewash over Consti A – which saw him fall just one shy of the seasons’ best score.

Magic Johnson also pocketed a 76, 53 (unfinished) and 46, while team-mates John Keeton (R30) managed a fine 41.

Rob Childs (O190), whose 97 is the top score of the season, was in fine form too. He pocketed breaks of 59, 56, 55 and an unfinished 39 as his Crowland B side smashed Pyramid A 7-0.

At the top, Holbeach B moved 12 clear after seeing off Pyramid B 7-0. That’s because second-placed Consti C slipped up 5-2 at Long Sutton, for whom Mick Cooper (O40) managed breaks of 25, 23 (twice) and an unfinished 29.

Results: Pyramid B 0 Holbeach B 7 (467-600); Crowland B 7 Pyramid A (600-490); Sutton 5 Consti C 2 (586-525); Consti B 7 Consti A 0 (600-492); Consti D 0 Donington 7 (500-600); Crowland A 2 Sutton 5 (560-596).
