Leaders Long Sutton suffered their first Spalding and District Billiards League beating since the opening day of the season after going down 4-3 at Crowland A last week.

Wins from Derek Tinkler (O20) and Neil Burton (R80) sunk Sutton, despite a 36 break from Sean Swinburn (O20).

Bizarrely, Sutton stretched their lead at the top to 7.5 points after Pyramid A saw off second-placed Consti B 5-2. A 51 break from Mick Johnson (O160) was in vain for the high fliers.

Elsewhere, Holbeach A’s Hugh Pinner (O170) made breaks of 64 and 58 to help seal a 5-2 win at Consti A and Crowland B’s Rob Childs (O190) made a 62 break in a 5-2 loss at Consti D.

There was also a fine 55 break from Sid Shaw (O10) in Donington’s 5-2 win over basement boys Gosberton.
