BIG BREAK: Rob Childs

A dazzling 100 break from Rob Childs helped second-placed Crowland B cut Long Sutton’s lead at the top of Spalding and District Billiards League to 11 points last week.

The O190 handicapper’s ton break against Sean Swinburn (O20) is the biggest of the season so far and guided Crowland to a vital 5-2 triumph.

Alan Sharman (R80) was the other frame winner for Crowland, who are on a ten-game winning streak. But Mick Cooper (O40) made a 50 break as Sutton took one frame to stay in command and the summit.

Away from the title race, Crowland A beat Holbeach B 4-3 to register their first victory in over a month. Two 25 breaks from the victorious Terry Everitt (R20) and a frame win from Neil Burton(R80) sealed the success.

Wins from Jon Clapton (R90) and John Twell (R60) guided Pyramid A to a third victory on the spin, as they saw off Consti C 4-3.

Elsewhere, Hugh Pinner (O170) pocketed breaks of 47 and 39 in Holbeach A’s 5-2 defeat at Consti D.
