Ayscoughfee closed within five points of EBA Section Four Club Championship leaders Spalding Town A after a hard-fought victory at Whaplode Drove.
Drove had inflicted a surprise defeat on the Group A leaders the previous week and held Ayscoughfee in the first rink.
The second-placed team fought back, with C Mycock and the three Cherrys winning the second rink 23-17 and, despite losing the final rink 17-14, they enjoyed A 7-3 win.
Donington are also pushing up the table and beat visitors Bourne Town 8-2, although the points were enough to lift the away team from last place.
Things had looked even better when they won the first rink 16-10 but Donington’s J Potter, D Woods, J Gott and R Pearson sealed victory in the third, 21-9.
Castle A stretch their lead to 18 points at the top of division two after an 8-2 victory at title rivals Deepings.
Things looked bleak for Castle when they lost the opening rink 27-7, but they fought back to win the second before D Marriott, T Bell, C Wilson and G West saw them home with a 19-12 final rink.
Billingborough are hot on Deepings’ heels after thrashing lowly Long Sutton 10-0, with the second rink score of 20-8 from W Wand, P Howes, J Jones and D Robinson the most impressive.
In Triples A Goodfellowship stretched their lead with a good 8-2 victory at title rivals Castle A, whose final rink win from I Cooke, J King and B Benton was not enough.
Carter’s Park A are also in the running after an impressive 8-2 victory at Billingborough.
Things were very close going into the final rink but then S Hammond, P Burrell and T Crane handed out a 36-6 demolition job on K Smith, T Pittkin and P Wesley to clinch an emphatic victory.
Royal Mail Cart stay second bottom after a second straight heavy defeat, losing 10-0 at home to mid-table Moulton Harrox A, who put the gloss on an impressive performance with D Hall, S Kirby and J Taylor’s 30-6 final rink win.
Spalding Town A stay top in Triples B but suffered only their second defeat of the campaign, going down 7-3 at Ayscoughfee.
The 29-5 second rink mauling handed out by J Wells, M Copcutt and C Ellis was the clincher in this match.
Holbeach United Services Club fall slightly off the pace after their narrow 6-4 defeat at Moulton Harrox B went to a last-rink decider, which K Grundy, R Groves and I Forman clinched 27-10.
