ARCHERY: Super Sharon shoots new record

SHARON Essam stole the show as archers from Silver Spoon Bowmen made the short trip to Peterborough to take part in a Celebration Windsor Shoot.

In changeable conditions at the home of Nene Bowmen, she shone in her first-ever outside competition – winning the ladies’ compound event with a new Silver Spoon club record.

Also on-song was Lynn Fisher, who shot a new personal best score to win the ladies’ recurve event by over 70 points.

Husband John Fisher also continued his recent good form by finishing second in the gents compound event.

• SPALDING’S Silver Spoon Bowmen sent three of its juniors – Amy Gott, Abbie Spinks and Ryan Mountney – to Lincoln to shoot in a match against four other counties.

The weather was excellent for shooting, and the Lincolnshire juniors from Spalding, Sleaford, Swineshead and Friskney fought hard to fend off the competition.

The compound section managed to come fourth , against very stiff competition, while the recurve section won their event – as well as having the highest scoring junior boy in Chris Brown.

This is the first time the recurve team has managed to win in over 18 years.
