RELATIVE novice Alan Hood had plenty to carp on about as he pipped mentor Steve Russell-White to the post en route to glory at Young Dons FC’s angling match at Lakeside Fishery.

The U/9 manager took the spoils at Quadring with a single 7Ib 10oz carp, ahead of U/16 boss and organiser Russell-White, who caught a 6Ib 5oz mixed bag of a single carp and silver fish.

Richard Adcock was just behind in third, weighing in 6Ib 2oz.

A decent turnout of 15 local anglers attended the match, which raised £237 for Dons’ ambitious clubhouse plans.

Trophies for the event were sponsored by Quadring Post Office, Paul Cooper (plumbing) and Andrews and Co.

Prizes were donated by Tomblins (Pinchbeck), Clive at Surfleet Angling, Karen Major and Woody and Danny Allen.

Dons also offered special thanks to Ken and Linda (Lakeside Fishery) for use of the venue and their kind donation, as well as Woody, Debbie (Corner House Flowers), Surfleet AC members and Nikki.
