Aaron Clarke and Charlie King (ACR Kawasaki) had mixed results at Donington Park in the opening round of the National Superstock 600 championship over the Easter weekend.
Kirton rider Clarke just missed out on a race start while Great Yarmouth’s King completed the 14-lap race in 19th position.
Clarke began well and was 18th in free practice but he dropped down the order during qualifying.
Although his lap times improved, he was unable to make it into the top 40. With 55 riders all competing for a place on the grid that only holds 40 it was always going to be a difficult task and he ended final qualifying in 42nd place.
Clarke said: “I was gutted I couldn’t make it through to the race.
“My lap times are faster than ever before but sadly it was just not quite enough. It really did come down to a hundredth of a second which is nothing at all. But I will take the experience gained here at Donington and try to improve next time out.”
The next round is at Brands Hatch over the weekend of April 17-19.
