At the end of a very successful swimming season, Deepings Swimming Club members still managed to produce a set of absolutely cracking results at the last two galas of the season.

First, at the Northampton Summer Festival Meet in Corby on July 9 and 10, the Deepings SC team swam their way to 17 gold medals, 10 silvers and 11 bronze, 75 long course personal best times, and 30 county qualifying times.

Thirteen-year-old Jessie Spooner re-wrote the Lincolnshire ASA county record books by setting a new long course record in the 50m backstroke with a time of 34.41 (previous record stood at 34.96), as well as setting two new club records in both 50m and 100m backstroke.

Then, finally, at the club championships weekend on July 16 and 17, Alex Wray broke yet another Lincs ASA county record, this time for the 50m breaststroke (short course 18-year-old), which previously stood at 30.67.

Alex posted a time of 29.16.

He wasn’t the only one to have a good weekend though as the swimmers together achieved an amazing 445 personal best times, 176 county qualifying times and eight new club records.
