JUNIOR RUGBY: Four-some Lewis inspires victory

SPALDING RFC U/13s 36 WEST NORFOLK U/13s 3: TOWN made light work of their opposition as they returned from a six-week playing hiatus.

West Norfolk mounted a sustained period of pressure inside the Spalding 22 early on, but the hosts were soon ahead when Corey Lewis made a looping run down the left hand touchline to score a try in the corner, which went unconverted.

Immediately after the score, JJ Faulkner made great ground before passing on the Alex Worth who went over in the left corner. Again the try was unconverted.

Norfolk did manage to get themselves on the scoreboard before the break as they kicked a penalty.

With the ample wind behind them, Town added a third try when Lewis kicked ahead over the line for himself to follow up and score, which was converted by Oliver Johnson.

Fine play from Faulkner and Oliver Rees then allowed Mark Hendy to force his way over for an unconverted try.

There was still time for Lewis to complete his hat-trick. He crossed the line after a series of drives from Alex Worth and Tom Rollinson. Lewis converted the try himself.

Not done there, Lewis pounced for an interception and raced off to score his fourth of the afternoon.

Johnson converted to complete the scoring and wrap up a convincing victory for Spalding.
