Two local teenagers made the first three in the opening race of the Peterborough 5k Series.

Bourne ace Alex Hampson, who has previously won the accompanying junior 3k series, belied his tender years to follow home England international Aaron Scott.

The 16-year-0ld smashed his PB when running 15:54 to finish just four seconds behind Scott.

He pulled away from in-form Nene Valley Harriers clubmate Lloyd Kempson in the closing stages, the 19-year-old Holbeach athlete having to settle for third and a PB of 16.12.

Bourne Town Harrier Jonathan Palmer finished 12th in 17.09 with 17-year-olds Ollie Bowling (21st in 17:39) and James McCrae (29th in 18:02) also in the top 30.
