GOLF: Spalding players club together for Hospice

Generous members of Spalding Golf Club have clubbed together to raise more than £12,000 for a really good cause.

Club captains Andy Reedman, Norma Parker and Colin Inkley all ended their term in office recently – and during their reign, all proceeds from open and invitation days, sponsorship and many more fundraising activities have been collected for their chosen beneficiary, the Spalding St Barnabas Hospice.

A cheque for a magnificent total of £12,125 was presented to the local St Barnabas Hospice representative Vikki Allen.

Ladies’ section: Spalding’ Winter Stableford was won by Chris Vickers (29pts), with Lisa Howling second on 25pts.

• The third round of the Gouch Cup bogey competition saw Maureen Orwell (-3) take the spoils ahead of Jill Huggins (-4). The duo meet in the final.

Other results: EWGA Medal (best four medal scores) – Hannah Thorold. Handicap Cup (greatest reduction in the year) – Matilde Kedzlie (18.3 from 28.8). Tomlinson Order of Merit – 1st Angela Roper 67pts; 2nd Paula Brown 46pts (ocb); 3rd Sue Mathews 46pts. Turkey Trot (played in conjunction with the Hazel Peck Trophy) – 1st Dina Reedman 35pts. Vouchers – Leslie Williams(34), Avril Norton (34), Elaine Hancock (33), Ruth Atkins (33), Jackie Bailey Scott (33), Lisa Howling (33), Anne Ellis (33), Maureen Orwell (31).Birdie Tree – 1st Angela Roper; Par Bar – 1st Mags McArdle.
