ON Chenecks 2

WAKES boss Darren Munton saved the day by donning the number one shirt in Saturday’s 2-2 draw at ON Chenecks.

Having never played in goal competitively, he put himself forward after being let down on the day.

Brazilian Ikharo Leopoldino made a scoring start to his Wakes career – but there was no winning debut.

Bourne led 2-0 at half-time through Jake Humphries and Leopoldino but Scott Barczewski gave Chenecks a glimmer of hope after 82 minutes and they earned a point through Eddie Stewart.

Munton said: “It’s disappointing to have drawn after leading 2-0 but we were holding on a bit so I’m happy with a point.

“I didn’t have a lot to do in goal to be honest, but I won’t be rushing to do it again!”

Bourne: Munton, Rook, Cardall (N Staffieri), Hook, Smith, Jesson, Braithwaite, G Staffieri, Brockbank, Leopoldino (Dunn), Humphries (Firth).
