Spalding United v Market Drayton Town (Saturday, 3pm): WITHOUT even kicking a midweek ball the Tulips’ plight got even more perilous – making this the very definition of a must-win game.
Relegation rivals Rainworth Miners Welfare beat Rushall Olympic 3-1 on Tuesday night, effectively leaving Spalding 15 points from safety with 21 points left to play for.
Given their embarrassing haul of three wins from 35 Evo-Stik League First Division South games this season, Andy Stanhope’s side will literally have to rip up the form book if they are to stand any chance of survival.
Of their remaining fixtures, this is one of the more ‘winnable’, with Market Drayton languishing in 19th place.
But Drayton have secured three wins in their past five games – a run that has seen them surge clear of the drop zone.
New recruit Nathan Iley could make his debut for the Tulips after missing out last weekend, while attacking midfielder Billy Turner, who was signed last week from Newark Town, is pushing for a start.
Market Drayton won the reverse 3-0 just over a month ago.
