TULIPS: Spalding seal Jacklin swoop

Spalding United completed yet another big name signing on Thursday morning as they sealed a deal for Stamford defender Michael Jacklin.

The centre back, who has also enjoyed spells with Grantham Town and Worksop Town, goes straight into the squad for Saturday’s massive FA Vase clash with Guernsey Town at the Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field.

Chuffed Tulips boss Pat Rayment said: “I’m delighted to have landed Michael, he’s was certainly one of the best defenders in the league above us, so it’s a real coup.

“We chased him all summer but couldn’t quite get a deal sorted, so to get him now is a real boost.

“He’s big, strong and fast – a real beast of a defender. I’m certainly very excited to see how he’ll improve the side.”

Jacklin is the third player to join Spalding this week, following Jamie Thurlbourne (King’s Lynn Town) and Michael Duggan (St Neots Town).
