Spalding United are bidding to fill the void left by leading scorer Shane Tolley with strike duo Karl Gibbs and Tony Battersby.
Having allowed 20-goal Tolley to move to Histon, St Ives Town hitman Gibbs and experienced Grantham Town forward Battersby have both emerged on Tulips boss Pat Rayment’s radar.
Of the two, ex-Lincoln City ace Battersby is the closest to completion. Spalding are hoping the Gingerbreads will allow him to join without them making a formal approach.
The usual seven-day notice has gone in for Gibbs, who is the UCL Premier Division’s top marksman on 17.
Spalding visit Sleaford Town for a Lincs FA Senior Trophy quarter-final tonight (7.45pm).
