TULIPS: Pat happy despite double striker snub
Pat Rayment insists that he is unconcerned after seeing his top two transfer targets snub Spalding United.
St Ives Town hitman Karl Gibbs has signed a contract with the UCL Premier Division leaders, ending the Tulips’ hopes of landing him.
Ryan Robbins, the Evo-Stik League First Division South’s leading scorer, has decided to stay with Coalville Town and ‘play the level’.
Despite ditching Shane Tolley and Franny Green in recent weeks, Rayment is happy with his current options after seeing TJ Nightingale and Tony Battersby star in Saturday’s 7-1 win over Harborough Town.
He said: “Karl signing a contract ended our hopes of a deal, while we had a good chat with Ryan and were unable to get him. Fair play to him, he’s going places as a player and you can’t knock ambition.
“In TJ Nightingale and Tony Battersby we’ve got a great strikeforce already.
“They gave us something very different at the weekend. We were physical and got at defenders, which is what we hadn’t been doing well enough.”
Spalding visit Desborough Town tommorrow (Tuesday) night (7.45pm), before another away journey to Oadby Town in the FA Vase on Saturday (3pm).
