SPALDING United are launching their 90th birthday celebrations with a fun day at the Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field on Saturday.
The Tulips had hoped to entertain either Peterborough United or Luton Town for a prestige game, but neither were able to accept.
Andy Stanhope’s side will instead host an open training session from 2pm-4pm, with everyone welcome to attend.
The fun day also marks the first community event since the Tulips signed an agreement to be affiliated with Spalding Athletic.
Spalding press officer Ray Tucker said: “It will be a day when supporters can come along and meet the players, but there will be a lot of things happening.”
There will be training and coaching sessions, five-a-side games and a penalty shoot out competition.
There will also be a bouncy castle and inflatable sumo wrestling suits for the kids, as well as a wellie wanging competition.
A barbecue will be in operation and the Tulips Social Club will be open throughout from 1pm to 4pm.
• Spalding are also on the lookout for any old team photographs to hang on the clubroom walls. If anyone has any they would like to donate or just loan, the club would love to hear from them.
