Tulips boss Pat Rayment fears that Monday’s UCL Knockout Cup final could be something of an anti-climax.
Spalding United square off with promotion rivals St Ives at Peterborough Northern Star’s Chestnut Avenue (3pm), just 48 hours after completing their respective UCL Premier Division campaigns.
And Rayment feels it’ll be hard for the side that missed out on promotion to get up for the final.
He said: “Both teams have applied for promotion for a reason. That is our main goal and it’ll be an anti-climax for whoever misses out.
“Obviously we want to win the cup, it’d cap an excellent season – which I believe is the best Spalding have had in a long time.”
Midfielder Chris Hall misses the final, while top scorer Dan Cotton is a doubt with a niggling knee injury.
