A DOUBLE transfer woe is threatening to ruin Richard Scott’s Spalding United masterplan.
The Tulips supremo had hoped to complete the captures of Danny Matson and Danny Steadman before Christmas, but both deals have hit a snag.
St Ives striker Matson, who has held positive talks with Scott, has been stranded abroad after a skiing holiday – and the Tulips’ notice of approach may expire before he returns.
Scott also has to wait until December 28 to speak to Grantham Town’s Steadman, having already slapped in an approach for team mate Adam Millson earlier this month.
It all caps a frustrating December for the Tulips, who have played just once since November 20. Their next fixture is a home clash with Glapwell on New Year’s Day.
Player/boss Scott said: “I’m still hopeful we can sign both players, but I’d like to have tied both deals up. Matson showed an interest in signing when we last spoke, so I remain confident.
“As with our fixtures, the weather hasn’t helped us there.
“With so many postponements, the second half of the season is looking tough.
“We have to travel to Rainworth, Sheffield FC and Market Drayton midweek, which isn’t ideal.”
