Loughborough Dynamo 5 Spalding United 0: TOILING Spalding started and finished badly as they suffered another heavy away defeat on Saturday.
Luke Edwards struck after only 12 seconds to put the Tulips behind, while three goals in the last five minutes left Andy Stanhope’s side licking their wounds.
To go down 5-0 was a gross injustice for the Tulips, who enjoyed huge amounts of the game, writes RAY TUCKER.
They enjoyed their moments in front of the home goal and could so easily have gone in at the break with the lead.
Stand-in skipper Sean Baker shaved the bar with a bullet far-post header from a Corey Currithers corner and moments later Josh Nodder, receiving a neat flick on by Alistair Holding, saw his shot flash inches wide of the far post.
Spalding keeper Leigh Cook pulled off an excellent save to deny Loughborough’s Ash Way before Currithers saw his 30-yard drive rise inches over the home bar.
It was certainly against the run of play when Dynamo stretched their lead in the 57th minute, Matt Langham applying the finishing touch to a lightning break.
The balance of the side was disrupted by positional changes late on, but Jammal Shahin did rattle the woodwork again.
Tiredness also took its toll in the closing stages and Boro’ ran riot, with Way helping himself to a brace and Edwards bagging his second.
The Tulips have yet to win on the road this season, taking just two points from 20 away league fixtures.
Tulips: Cook, Ingram (Outram 80), Kennedy (de Oliveira 70), Denham, Chappell, Baker, Currithers, Warner, Holding, Shahin, Nodder. Not used: Thompson.
