Rothwell Corinthians 3 Holbeach Utd 3: ON one of the greatest footballing weekends in recent memory, the bottom two in the UCL Premier Division served up a real cracker.
The Tigers produced a stunning comeback that almost mirrored Newcastle United’s efforts against Arsenal, as they came from 3-0 down to salvage an unlikely point.
And while 43 goals were scored in the Premier League, Matt Warfield’s injury time leveller was the most crucial of all for Holbeach fans.
Needing a win to ignite their survival charge, the Tigers were shell-shocked as goals from Liam Richardson, Lee Deacon and Nicky Kingsnorth put Rothwell 3-0 up.
But a 20-yard Pete Smith stunner began the fightback, moments before Deacon was sent off.
A deflected Wes Lewis strike made it 3-2 on 90 minutes, before Shuan Keeble won a dramatic penalty five minutes into added time. Lewis was dismissed as a melee followed, but Warfield held his nerve to help the Tigers edge above Raunds and out of the drop zone.
