HOLBEACH UTD 3 (A Stevens, Treacher, Brooks) LINCOLN MOORLANDS RAILWAY 1: Holbeach boss John Chand was delighted after the Tigers sealed a place in the next round on Saturday.
Chand told the Lincolnshire Free Press: “I’m pleased overall. It was a good performance against a very good side in a different league to us who are expected to win their league.
“Ashley’s and Tommy’s goals were both worthy of winning any game.”
The reward is a trip to Hucknall Town, who are 13th in the Evo-Stik League First Division South, on Saturday, September 3, in the Preliminary Round.
Chand said: “It will be tough, but there will be no pressure on us travelling to a team from a few divisions higher – we’re not expected to win.
“We’re looking forward to taking the bus and some fans on an away day. We’re the underdogs but on our day we’re a match for anyone.”
Holbeach host Blackstones tomorrow (Wednesday) still missing midfielder Paul Goodhand with a calf muscle injury.
Chand added that Jamie Stevens will not be going anywhere unless a deal is right for club and player after King’s Lynn Town were the latest side to deny interest in the centre-half, although Chand revealed another club has been linked with a move.
Chand said of the defender, who is on a two-year contract with The Tigers: “Jamie is good enough to play for any team in this league and the league above.
“We did not have an official approach from King’s Lynn, but we did have indirect contact from a team who are not local from one or two divisions higher.
“We will never hold up any player, but a fee would be involved and any deal made needs to be right for Holbeach and for Jamie.
“He has been an absolute stand-out in his play and attitude. I can’t talk highly enough for the boy.”
