A GOAL in each half saw Holbeach United grab their first silverware in nine years as they beat Barton Town Old Boys 2-0 in the Lincolnshire FA Senior Trophy final on Tuesday night.
Luke Kennedy and Dave Wilson were the goalscoring heroes for UCL Premier Division Tigers as they saw off their Northern Counties East League opponents at Lincoln City’s Sincil Bank ground.
Kennedy slotted home the first after 20 minutes after a superb Andew Tidswell cross was cushioned down by Dan Flack.
Holbeach bossed the rest of the first half, but withstood a lot of pressure after the break before substitute Wilson sealed victory in the 90th minute.
He pinched the ball off Barton’s keeper and slotted home to clinch the victory.
Manager John Chand said: “I’m absolutely delighted. We played the right way and totally deserved it. I’m delighted too for the fans, who were brilliant.
“We were short of strikers, but what a moment for Dave Wilson to come on and score. It’s a great night for the club.”
Ben Brown was named man of the match after a colossal performance in defence – including a late goal-line clearance.
Elsewhere, Pinchbeck United crushed Crowland Town 7-0 at Knight Street to strengthen their grip on top spot in the Peterborough Premier Division title race.
Andy Law (2), Dan Woods (2), Danny Maddison, Ian Dunn and Jonny Clay got the goals.
