Spalding United’s new-look squad are just three weeks away from meeting up as a unit to begin preparing for the new season, which will see the club stepping up a grade into the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Division One South.
The opening training session is scheduled for Thursday, July 3 (7pm) at the Sir Halley Stewart Field and joining the get-fit regime will be Kev Nottingham’s brand new reserve team.
Nottingham, who was the club’s under-18 manager last season, has drafted in three additional backroom staff – Jez Hudson, Mark Casey and Rick Harper – to assist him and Andy Coaton.
The new reserve team, which will compete in Division Two of the Peterborough and District League, have their opening ‘meet and greet’ session on Wednesday, June 25 (7pm) at the Sir Halley Stewart Field.
They have confirmed pre-season friendly matches against Spalding Town (July 16) and Long Sutton (July 23) and are also in the process of arranging a further game against Moulton Harrox.
The first team’s pre-season match programme is: Peterborough Sports (away, July 12), Boston United (home, July 15, 7.45pm), King’s Lynn (home, July 19, 3pm), Yaxley (away, July 24, 7.45pm), Deeping Rangers (away, July 26, 3pm), Kettering Town (home, August 2, 3pm), Huntingdon (home, August 5, 7.45pm) and Grantham Town (home, August 9, 3pm).
The league season gets under way on Saturday, August 16.
Training sessions are pencilled in for July 3, 5, 8, 10 plus August 7 and 9, all at 7pm.
