Local fan Shawn Scott won the chance of a lifetime when he got to experience what life is really like as a Liverpool footballer.
Scott, of Mill Lane, Spalding, won the opportunity to run out at Anfield as part of a competition organised by Vauxhall, the Liverpool team partner.
The Liverpool fans met at the historic stadium in preparation for the game of their lives on the hallowed turf and were managed by Reds legends Robbie Fowler and Jason McAteer.
He said: “It was the most unforgettable day of my life. To have walked out that tunnel and faced the Kop wearing Liverpool colours was just indescribable.
“We were given behind the scenes access of the stadium and the trophy room before kick-off.
“ I think the biggest cheer of the day came when the managers were announced.
“We couldn’t believe Fowler and McAteer were the managers! It just topped off a phenomenal experience. I won’t forget this for a very long time.”
Fowler said: “The players were fantastic and we all had a magnificent day thanks to Vauxhall.
“The lads were great and I’m sure they’ll tell their grandkids about this one day!”
Vauxhall sponsorship marketing manager, Cheryl Stibbs, said: “We understand the historic and symbolic importance of Anfield and to be able to offer fans a chance to play on the pitch is something we are extremely proud of.”
