DEEPING RANGERS 4 KEMPSTON ROVERS 2: Four goals in the final 25 minutes saw Deeping come from 2-0 down to crush Kempston on Saturday.
Drew Phillips (2 & 20) struck twice to put Rovers 2-0 ahead at the break in the UCL Premier Division clash, but Ash Stevens (65 & 75) notched a double of his own to haul Tuncay Korkmaz’s side level.
Sub Phil Stebbing (89) and Alex Beck (90) then bagged in the dying seconds to complete an amazing turnaround – and keep fourth-placed Deeping bang in the hunt for the title.
It wasn’t looking that way at half time, with Kemspton racing into an early lead.
Dangerman Phillips took advantage of some static defending to fire an early opener – then smashed number two into the roof of the net.
Deeping were a different animal in the second period, with Stevens looping home their first past a stranded keeper.
Striker Stevens then latched onto a big kick from keeper James Doughty before slotting home a composed leveller.
Kempston then saw an effort cleared off the line, before super sub Stebbing pounced to put the hosts ahead in the final minute.
There was still time for leading scorer Beck to force his way through the defence to fire number four, leaving the Outgang Road faithful delighted.
With Holbeach and Quorn losing it was a great day for Deeping, who are now just a point off second place in the table.
