DEEPING RANGERS 4 (Ginty 23, Heron 50, Burton-Jones 59, Moreman 87) DAVENTRY UNITED 3 (Green 9, Briscoe 26, Gould 29): JOSH Moreman’s stunning late winner completed a remarkable Deeping comeback at Outgang Road on Saturday.

It looked like Tuncay Korkmaz’s men were in for a long afternoon, as Daventry raced into a 3-1 lead at the break.

But Matt Heron and Dave Burton-Jones netted early in the second period, adding to Scott Ginty’s first-half strike, before Moreman smashed home a devastating clincher three minutes from time.

“Josh doesn’t score ordinary goals,” said Deeping player/boss Korkmaz. “Every one he gets tends to be a cracker.

“It got us out of jail a bit as we had missed countless chances earlier on.

“We don’t have enough composure in front of goal at the moment.”

Will Green stunned Deeping with his first goal for the Motormen on nine minutes, only for Ginty to convert Heron’s cross to level.

A quick-fire double put Daventry on-course for a shock win soon after, with Will Briscoe and a cracking James Gould free-kick making it 3-1.

It was a different story in the second period, with the first signs of a comeback sparked by Heron’s slotted finish – his 18th of the season – five minutes into the second 45.

Moments later it was 3-3, midfielder Burton-Jones scrambling the ball over the line from a corner.

Rangers keeper James Doughty was then forced to make a crucial save, setting the stage for Moreman to cut in from the left and lash home his 27th of the most productive of seasons.

Deeping: Doughty, Tinkler, Jackson, Logan, Burton-Jones, Weston, Gilbert (Barber), Holt, Ginty (Beck), Heron, Moreman. Not used: Julian.
