Alex Beck fired Deeping into the second round of the FA Vase as they exacted revenge on UCL Premier Division rivals Quorn on Saturday.

The Leicestershire side, who won 4-2 at Outgang Road last month, were eventually seen off by Beck’s tenacious effort on 53 minutes.

Defender Simon Ashton had earlier put Tuncay Korkmaz’s men ahead on the half hour, only for Kris Nurse to level matters in the opening minute of the second period.

Deeping handed a surprise start to striker Ashley Stevens, who signed on for another stint at the club following his release from Spalding United.

He was a constant threat throughout the game, but it was defender Ashton who broke the deadlock. He hooked home from a scramble that ensued from Harry Deane’s corner.

Nick Jackson and Beck both forced saves before the break as Rangers looked for a second, but it was Quorn who struck next. Nurse caught the hosts cold less than 60 seconds into the second half, slotting nicely past James Doughty.

But Deeping weren’t to be denied, as Beck shrugged off a number of challenges before curling home what turned out to be the winner.

Player/boss Korkmaz said: “We’ve been in great form lately and this just carries that on. The last few weeks have been very good for the club. It’s also nice to have Ash back on board – he’s as good as it gets at this level.”

Deeping: Doughty, Tinkler, Jackson, Logan , Ashton, Holt, Deane,Burton-Jones, Beck, Stevens (Evans), Lambley. Not used: Ginty, Waumsley, Heron, Hands.

Tonight: Kempston v Rangers (7.45pm); Sat : N Pagnell v Rangers (3pm).
