Michael Goode feels Deeping Rangers’ place in the Emirates FA Cup first qualifying round is “thoroughly deserved”.
The boss was delighted as Scott Mooney’s goal saw off the challenge of Dereham Town at the Haydon Whitham Stadium on Saturday.
Victory earned £1,925 and set up a trip on September 12 to Leek Town or Rocester who have a replay on Tuesday night.
Goode said: “It’s a great result on a good day for the club.
“It’s not about the prize money – that’s a bonus.
“As a player at our level if you win two games in the FA Cup then you’ve done well.
“The previous round at home to Boston Town was a 50-50 game at the start of the season.
“Now we are further into the campaign and this gives us belief that we can go on to win another game.
“I thought the 1-0 win was thoroughly deserved purely and simply because of the way we defended.
“We got men behind the ball and also had a couple of threats.
“We know if we get the ball to Mooney that there is always a chance.
“In the end we dealt with a lot of pressure. We have played better but we kept going to ensure that clean sheet.”
