Evo-Stik League First Division South (full-time) - Kidsgrove Athletic 0 Spalding United 1
Tom Waumsley’s 25th goal of the season kept Spalding United on course for a promotion play-off place.
The striker slotted in the rebound on 15 minutes after Chris Hall’s 20-yard shot had been parried.
A slow start to the game at relegation-threatened Kidsgrove Athletic saw the Staffordshire side waste a clear-cut chance before Waumsley broke the deadlock.
Manager Pat Rayment served a one-match touchline ban at The Novus Stadium after being sent to the stand during the defeat at Newcastle Town last month.
He made two changes from the Spalding side which won 4-0 at Market Drayton Town eight days ago with Michael Leary and Nathan Adams coming in for Nathan Stainfield and Avelino Vieira.
Tulips keeper Michael Duggan made a couple of saves before the break to protect that advantage while Kidsgrove wasted two more opportunities to get back on level terms and Josh Glover’s header came off the woodwork.
Both teams had second-half efforts disallowed but Kidgsrove couldn’t quite find an equaliser as Spalding held on for three vital points.
