Spalding, Holbeach, Deeping and Bourne were the places for goals today, with their four home games producing 20 in total.

But the Tulips let the side down after squandering the lead twice to lose 3-2 at home to Basford United at Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field.

Jamie Graham and Nathan Stainfield were on target for Marcus Ebdon’s side in a game where the main topic of debate will be Basford’s winner, with 15 minutes to go which was given as a goal by one of the assistant referees.

No such problems for Holbeach United who strolled to a 4-0 win over Silbey Rangers, led by Josh Ford’s third brace in as many games.

Jake Clitheroe and Andrew Tidswell were the other scorers on a day when Tom Roberts was confirmed as manager in place of the sacked Darren Jarvis, with Tidswell alongside Roberts as assistant manager.

The game of the day was at the Haydon Witham Stadium where Deeping Rangers beat leaders Leicester Nirvana 3-2 with goals from Scott Mooney, Scott Coupland and a winner four minutes into added time, at the end of the game, by Luke Avis.

Meanwhile in rugby, the Bruno Figueiredo revolution at Spalding went into overdrive today with a 57-8 stampede over Bakewell Mannerians at Memorial Field in Midlands Two East (North).

Harry Harrison ran in four tries as Town turned a 12-5 half-time lead into a 49-point demolition job, the other men to touch down being Ash Anker, Harry Brown, George Douglas, Kier Moore and Josh Broome.

After the match, Figueiredo said: “We had a good game because we kept doing the same things, with a good attitude, good discipline and good fitness.

“I’m happy for the players amd I’m proud of them.”

Spalding are now just two points from the safety zone ahead of a two-week break before

In Midlands Four (East) South), Bourne lost their A15 derby against Stamford College Old Boys 25-6 while Deepings were hammered 57-3 by third-placed Queens.
