Holbeach United v Northampton Spencer (Saturday, 3pm): JOHN Chand wants his Tigers to set up a thrilling festive period by reaffirming their status as UCL Premier Division heavyweights.
Fourth-placed Holbeach go into Saturday’s clash with mid-table Spencer off the back of six straight wins – and the smart money is on them making it seven at Carter’s Park.
With a trip to struggling Irchester United (December 17) their final fixture before Christmas, the Tigers could realistically enter games against top two King’s Lynn (Boxing Day) and Long Buckby (December 31) in the form of their lives.
Although Chand has half an eye on a trip to The Walks already, he is refusing to look past Spencer and Irchester.
The Holbeach boss said: “I think teams are starting to take us seriously now. A lot of teams have come to Carter’s Park and put men behind the ball and tried to stop us playing, which is a compliment.
“Last season Spencer came to our place and played 3-4-3 – I can’t see them doing that again.
“It’s a cliché to say we’re taking it one game at a time, but the Christmas games are big.
“If we can get two more wins we can go to King’s Lynn with no fear and lots of belief.”
Chand has a full squad to pick from, with Lewis Brooks, Wes Lewis and Shaun Keeble all available again.
Jermain Palmer, who made a cameo appearance from the bench at Corby last weekend, is unlikely to be involved again.
Spencer are currently on a run of five games without a win, with their last three points coming on November 12. They lost 1-0 at lowly Yaxley last time out.
