Spalding hotshot Dan Cotton has decided to leave the club and is set to be followed out of the Sir Halley Playing Field by Adam Jackson.
Cotton, a consistent scorer for the last two seasons, has joined Yaxley while Jackson has turned down the club’s offer of a new deal.
Tulips boss Pat Rayment said: “I can not speak highly enough about both players.
Dan was our top-scorer last season and also did very well this season. He’s been brilliant for me and I wish him all the best.
“If possible I’d like him to be dual-registered with us but that’s something for Brett Whaley (the Yaxley manager) and me to discuss.
“I’ll miss him but that’s football, players come and go.
“We are in talks with five players but there are likely to be more outgoings before there are incomings.
“Adam doesn’t feel he can commit to the contract we have offered him and we won’t be improving our offer.
“We offered him an increase on his current deal but he turned it down.
“Again I can not speak highly enough about Adam. He proved everyone wrong and not only played nearly every game but also played consistently well.
“Michael Duggan has agreed to stay next season which is a bonus.”
“My budget is no higher for next season than it has been for the last two seasons, but I am happy with it. “
Two members of the Tulips’ championship-winning side, Andy Tidswell and Josh Ford, will be guests of honour when the club’s youth academy gather for their annual awards evening.
The event takes place at the Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field and in the Tulips’ Social Club on Saturday, May 17, and the pair will present the individual awards to the various age group winners.
For the lucky recipients the occasion will be like climbing the steps at Wembley as a new innovation this year will see the awards presented from the grandstand with the youngsters climbing the stairs on one side of the entrance and returning down the other flight.
The awards evening gets under way at 4pm with the presentations at 6pm. The club’s refreshments bar will be open and there will be a disco in the clubhouse which is open to all members.
The Tulips Youth Academy is currently looking for managers for their Under- 12, Under 16 and Under 18 teams for next season. Anyone interested should e-mail email@example.com.
