Spalding United have signed a forward who made a big-money move to Hull City at the age of 15.
Jack Barlow cost around £100,000 in 2009 when he went from Grimsby Town following a trial spell with Manchester City.
But after failing to break into the Tigers’ first-team squad, he has played for the likes of Scarborough Athletic and Cleethorpes Town.
Barlow managed only nine minutes on the pitch during a three-month spell with Boston United at the start of last season.
Spalding manager Pat Rayment said: “Maybe we can give him the platform because we’ve already seen in training what he can do.
“He’s a welcome addition to the squad.
“Who knows, perhaps I will be the manager who squeezes that potential out of him. If that’s the case then happy days!”
Barlow is set for his debut when Spalding start the Evo-Stik League First Division South campaign with a trip to Romulus on Saturday.
