Spalding teenager Simon Bell’s dreams of becoming a top referee have been given a boost after he received an award from the Jazz Apple Foundation.
He picked up the whistle after a hip dislocation injury which meant a long spell on the sidelines. The 16-year- old completed a refereeing course and since then has never looked back.
He currently sits on the Peterborough and District League Youth Committee and the United Counties Youth Committee while also being a member of the Spalding Referees’ Association.
The former Bourne Town player said: “I’m delighted and really thankful for the help the Jazz Apple Foundation has given me.”
