Spalding boss Pat Rayment is hopeful of making a transfer breakthrough in the next couple of days.
Rayment, who guided the Tulips to the UCL Premier Division title this season, is waiting for an answer from three players including a Conference Premier midfielder.
He said: “I’m waiting to hear from three players and if we pull the signings off it will show people we mean business.
“I have spoken to a Peterborough-based midfielder from a Conference Premier club and also a left-back and striker from step three sides.
“All three were regulars at their clubs and I hope they agree to join us. I hope to get an answer from them by the end of the week.
“I am also trying to bring in a further three players because we have big plans at this club.
“I want to make the top five next season and the players we have spoken to would help us achieve that.”
Rayment is also awaiting answers from Lee Beeson, Ross Watson and Josh Ford who have been offered new terms.
