OLLERTON 0 DEEPING RANGERS 3 (M Jones 43, Heron 81, Gilbert 83): FUMING Deeping player/boss Tuncay Korkmaz branded Ollerton “the lowest of the low” after this bruising FA Vase tie on Saturday.
The Turkish tactician watched on as his skipper Adam Weston had his cheekbone broken in two places by an elbow that went unpunished.
It was the worst of a number of unsavoury incidents that rendered Rangers’ win irrelevant in the bosses eyes.
Korkmaz said: “It was one of those days that made me question why I’m involved with football. The whole episode has left me feeling sick.
“From the moment we arrived I had a bad feeling about the place. They just went out to kick my players and it’s no surprise that somebody suffered a serious injury. The referee and the two assistants were the worst I’ve ever seen too. I don’t even want to talk about our win to be honest.”
Korkmaz was sent from the dugout after seeing skipper Weston “assaulted” in the first period. The midfield ace was taken to hospital and underwent surgery yesterday.
After a lengthy delay Mark Jones put Deeping ahead to give them a half-time lead.
Late strikes from Matt Heron and Kev Gilbert sealed Deeping’s passage – but three players, including Deeping’s Matty Evans, saw red before the final whistle after a mini-brawl broke out.
Rangers will now host Holbeach in the First Round proper.
Rangers: Doughty, Evans, Jackson, K Jones, Tinkler, Weston (Fenton), M Jones, Burton-Jones, Battersby, Heron, Gilbert (Moreman). Not used: Julien, Oliver, Korkmaz.
