Nathan Stainfield capped a tremendous season with league champions Spalding United by winning four of the five end of season awards.
The club’s championship dinner and presentation evening held at Springfields Conference and Events Centre on Saturday evening saw the popular centre-half receive the manager’s man-of-the-season award from Pat Rayment; the players’ player-of-the-year award (presented by team-mate Andy Tidswell); the supporters’ player-of-the-year accolade (presented by long-standing supporter Geoff Smith) and the man-of-the-match series trophy from sponsor Vic Couzens.
Rayment said: “Nathan had a fantastic season for us and is just what we need in the centre of defence.
“Every game is a cup final to Nathan and that winning attitude played a big part in our successful season.
“I said when I signed him that we were signing a step two defender and his performances throughout this season have backed that up.
“He had a brilliant season for us and deserved all the awards.”
The Golden Boot award was won by Tidswell, who scored a total 38 goals in total (30 in the league) despite not playing a game through injury during 2014.
He received his award from director of football Bob Don-Duncan, who remarked that Tidswell was also to receive UCL’s Golden Boot award for the second year in succession.
There was also a surprise award for club persons of the year, instigated by new chief executive Malcolm Gray and presented by committe member Ray Tucker to husband and wife Andrew and Jennifer Gay.
Musical entertainment for the evening was provided by local group The Saturday Night Specials.
